Hmmm... at first glance, the definition of Saturday life would mean... going to malls.. Midvalley/Sunway/JJ/the other JJ, movies, clubbing, online, pia dota/cs/l4d/callofduty,blogging, retard-ing(for some people) and occasionally, read a book, right?
Alright, today... I've just made a breakthrough.. BIIiiiggg one...

LO AND BEHOLD!!!!!
YOU CAN ACTUALLY HANG OUT IN THE NATIONAL LIBRARY ON SATURDAYS WITH FRIENDS!!!
Nope, I'm not kidding.
Wanna know how? The following advice is purely from first hand experience:
#1. Get up from the nerdy side of your bed. Determine that you ARE a nerd for the rest of the day. (make sure you plan the night before with your Library Travel Agent-Mei Yen)
#2. Get to Teluk Gadung KTM station, wait for your tour guide to appear-ME/Mei Yen/Sabin.
#3. Buy a ticket to KL Sentral, and hop on the train. Sit.
#4. Upon reaching KL Sentral, go Rapid KL station and buy a ticket to Masjid Jamek (resist temptation to go MCD/KFC/Starbucks/Brickfields)
#5. From Masjid Jamek, walk across street, and go to Star LTR to get a ticket to Titiwangsa station.
#6. Get down and find a cab ASAP. (or if you want to walk, head northeast)
#7. Tell the fella to drive you to the National Library. (this should cost NO MORE than RM1)
#8. You should arrive in 5 minutes or less.( any later, call the police)
#9. Now... UNLEASH you inner GEEK unto those books!!!
#10. Oh if your carrying a bag.... you gotta leave it with the guards outside.
Sabin, Mei Yen and me on Star LRT. Pick your Library Tour Guide! XD
Well! Are we all here? Good!
(lol...my relfection is so retarded...)
So, Mei Yen, Sabin and I made it to the National Library this way! We were pretty unsure whether we might get lost or not, but in the end, luck turned out our way(in the form of a cab) and we reached our destination safely :) still kinda hard to take it in though.. lemme emphasise again.... omg! we made it to the National Library LOL...
The first thing you'll notice when you step into the "lobby" is that the library is tall, not as big as I would like to imagine, but, Tall...

From the top floor looking down...
Good view, but a waste of space. ><''
From the lobby, we could see like 5 flights of stairs going up which we decided we would explore later. Due to some mesterious forces of attraction..we were drawn into a door which turned out to be the computer+reading room. Okay.. I dont usually praise things... but mieh.. the setting wasn't too bad I guess. Simple non-goggy furnishings, tables and couches here and there, pc stands against the walls and in the centre of the room.
All nice and comfy... until I turned on the pc =.=''
The connection speed was close to zero~there goes my plan to access youtube from the National Library XD. Oh and I think its not allowed there...but anywayz I did manage to type a few words in my previous post before we decided to move on to the other parts of the library.
Note: not all the pcs there are of the same speed, Sabin chose one extraordinarily fast one!! (So we kinda took turns using it lol...)

Yea thats Mei Yen to my left, Sabin opposite me.
Took 3 trains and a cab just to blog!?!?!? Retarded lar... xD
EH????? SO FAMILIAR! (haha Leon...)
With this kinda connection speed, its no wonder you cant find any Youtubers around!
Okay after we started climbing the stairs and exploring the isles, we realised how big the library really was. They've got like... a section for everything imaginable... saw one purely on atlases and maps.. the biggest book there was the size of the hood of your car >
ok so anyway... we had lunch there(horrible and dry), and went to find and borrow some books (which we had to do so from a completely separate building! zzz)

ahhh... snug little corner to read in the borrowing section! LOL!
Oh another thing... after scouring the whole borrowing section for an hour, I realised, they dont have a SINGLE book on guitar music... greeaaat...
And neither did I find Philip Pullman's series His Dark Materials! strange!
Oh oh I did see StarCraft Ghost Nova though. So damn excited when I saw it, then I realised that was the ONLY book from the Blizzard series there on the shelf... such a hot seller!?!?
ZZZ in the end, I didn't borrow anything at all, thought I might not be able to come back here in 3 weeks(deadline for return), which I did later kinda regret :(
Note to Leon: They've got lotsa your kinda books there. ^^ Tempting?
Sigh... and as the long day came to an end... we took a cab,( almost got the cab driver lost), got to Ampang Park station, which was nearest, then back to Sentral, and home..
Well, the end of our library adventure :D
For the first time in history, I feel GREAT being a geek xD!!!

ReplyDeletewhen I read bout the 5 flights
I was like crap..i missed it = =
then read on, your blog call me sial= =
when going lagi?
got law section?
?
ReplyDeleteWhat 5 flights?
?
My blog called you!?
Yea got one law section, the sheer amount of thick THICK similar front cover looking books there is just... mind boggling. ><''
You could always ask someone else to return it (like me or theBi[haha!]), I think.
ReplyDeleteHow odd, you travel so far and took so many trains, and end up not borrowing any books back at all.
But then I'm not exactly a good judge on what's odd and what's not, so glady ignore me.
*theBin. Not theBi, sorry. And she'll kill me if she reads this, haha!
ReplyDeleteWell, I just didn't really see anything that I would bother reading this CNY break. The only book that caught my eye was "101 ways to keep your love" which was for reference only!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's not like I'm not never going back there again anwayz :) Planning my next trip with some people already! :D Wanna take this opportunity to return your books?
PS: Sabin sounds better :D
No no, we should ALWAYS call her The Bin! Haha!
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to use the word 'hard' to describe the food. Meh, I rate it as one of the top ten most horrible food I'd ever tasted.
Sabz and i plan to go about 2 weeks later, or something like that. Hunt up Salman Rushdie's books. =D
LOL okay, but only with her permission :)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, read my next post, I just made a revelation that there are actually worse food than the Library's. Anyway, I rate mine as...worse top 5!
I wanna join! :) And maybe so does Leon? Rushdie? Will look into it.
I wonder where has Philip Pullman's books gone to!?
